Not sure what you should be practicing and for how long? This guide will give you a good general schedule to follow.
About the guide:
This practice schedule is designed for beginners starting from scratch. If you are getting back into drawing, it is also a good way to re-familiarise yourself with the basics.
The schedule is 10 weeks long, based on practicing for 30-60 minutes three times a week but you can use it across more or less days. Eg. If you can only practice once a week just follow the schedule, ticking off each lesson as you finish it.
You can use the links in the schedule to take you straight to the lessons listed.
Some practice sessions are self directed and ask you to draw subjects that haven't been covered in the schedule yet. This is to give you a base starting point so when you move on to the next lesson you can see where to improve on what you have already tried.
Each lesson is something completely new for you so take it easy on yourself! Go back and repeat lessons if you need to or move on if you get bored. The key is to keep up consistent practice and to allow yourself to fail so you can learn!
A list of basic, extra and favourite tools and materials used in Sketch Club classes and courses. Includes Amazon links and a shopping check list for taking to the art shop with you :)
Note: Please don't feel you need to purchase anything more than a couple of pencils, an eraser and a sharpener....because more drawing tools won't make your drawings better! But they do give you more opportunities to try different techniques.
It's best to start with basic materials, develop good habits and then treat yourself to some more drawing supplies if you can afford them.
